Why I’m Running….
I’m running for Cook County Board of Review Commissioner because I believe every property owner or renter—whether they own a bungalow in Brighton Park, an apartment in Rogers Park, or have a storefront in Maywood—deserves a property tax system that is fair, transparent, and predictable.
The government belongs to the citizens it serves, and those elected to represent the people must do so with honesty, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility. Holding public office is not about power—it's about service.
Now more than ever, the public deserves to know how their government operates and where their tax dollars are going. Transparency should be expected. Accountability must be non-negotiable. Elected officials, at every level, must answer to the people—plain and simple.
The Board of Review plays a critical role in ensuring that Cook County's property tax assessments are accurate and equitable. But for too long, our system has been difficult to navigate, vulnerable to insider influence, and tilted toward those with the means to hire connected attorneys.
If elected, I will fight to:
🔍 Make appeals more accessible and transparent for working families and small businesses—not just the politically connected.
💻 Modernize the appeals process with clearer online tools and multilingual support, so people can understand and advocate for themselves.
📊 Increase public data access so we can analyze trends in appeals and spot systemic inequities, while increasing predictability.
🤝 Create community outreach programs—partnering with neighborhood groups, schools, and libraries—to demystify the appeals process and bring services directly to residents.
🛡️ Enforce stricter ethical safeguards to limit the influence of property tax lawyers and special interests on the appeals process.
Property taxes fund our schools, parks, and public safety—but the burden must be shared fairly and accurately. I’ll work to ensure that our Board of Review serves every resident, not just those who can afford a high-powered attorney.
Let’s build a Cook County that works for everyone.
